Easy Shrimp Recipes: Boiled Shrimp in Broth and Calamansi

Early morning and already I've draped myself over a seat, eyes glued to the TV. Jan sat by the dining table mulling over green onion chopping strategies.

"This ain't right. This guy on TV says you can earn maybe around $200 or so from blogging. I have friends you know who do that for a living and they certainly earn more than that."

Jan shrugged, "You know he's only saying that because internal revenue agents could be listening in."

"Do you know that one of my favorite bloggers, Yaro Starak once earned $30,000 in one month just through one blog?"

"So, can we earn that much?"

"Only if a Hollywood producer buys the rights to our story and then droves of salivating fans come marching in, go into seizures and descend on our blog ads."

"Ain't that a pretty picture. Let's get cooking then."

Boiled Shrimp Ingredients:

1 cup chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped ginger
1 bell pepper chopped
1/2 cup green onions
2 cups shrimp broth
1 tablespoon oil
1/2 kilo shrimps
1 1/2 cups calamansi juice (alternative: lemon or lime)
1 slice of butter

1. Heat pan. Saute onions, ginger and bell pepper in oil.

2. Pour broth. Let boil. Add salt to taste. Add shrimp.

3. In a separate pan, melt butter. Pour in calamansi  juice and add peppermill to taste.

4. Plate shrimps and pour a portion of the broth over it. Pour calamansi juice over it and top with green onions. Serves 4.

Wife's Verdict:

Lip smackingly good and truly a heavy hitter! This should have fed four people but there were only two of us and there were no leftovers. The broth intensified the rich flavor and texture of the shrimps but the lime juice offset the heavy taste. The ginger and peppermill added a pleasant hint of spice.

Jan's Quip: "You only love me for my food."
